Girl hit by car escapes with minor injuries

Live Oak — A 10-year old girl was struck by a car this morning crossing south on US 90 and Union Avenue S.E.

According to Live Oak Fire Chief Chad Croft, the girl “crossed the road and ran out in front of a car”. He said, from what the girl told him, that she was struck by the front passenger side of the car.

“It wasn’t a dead-center hit, which she should be thankful for that,” Croft said.

Croft said she was alert and oriented when they arrived on scene for the primary survey. She was taken by Suwannee County Fire/Rescue to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center.

“Right now it appears to be minor injuries. She didn’t seem to be in too much pain. I think she was just scared,” Croft said.

The girl’s name has not been released.
