Brent Blevins, 25, of Live Oak, Fla. died suddenly from multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.

Brent was a pre-K teacher in Lake City, Fla.  He was loved by ‘his kids.’

Brent will always be loved by everyone who ever met him.  He could always brighten any room he came into.  Brent was B-R-E-N-T.  He was one of a kind.

Brent is survived by his loving mother:  Cyndi Meredith and stepfather Ward; his devoted father:  Trent Blevins and stepmother Patti; Brent’s adored sister Ashley Shelton and brother-in-law Chris; adorable nieces Kylyn and Keirlynn Shelton; stepbrothers:  Christopher Meredith and Ron Goodwin; grandparents:  Charles and Alma Hendershot, Willard and Dottie Blevins; uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous friends.

Charles Hendershot, Jr., Tyler Burnham, John Dyal, Jim Shannon, Trey Jones and Paul Baker will serve as pallbearers for Brent’s service.

A viewing for Brent will be held from 11: a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at Daniels Memorial Chapel, Live Oak, Fla. with the funeral service starting at 1 p.m.  Rev. Tim Blanton will be officiating.

Ronald Edgar "Ronnie" Corbett

Ronald Edgar "Ronnie" Corbett, 70, Live Oak, Fla. passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. The Live Oak native owned/operated Corbett Mobile Homes in Lake City for thirty-nine years and was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Corbett is survived by three daughters: Deborah Corbett Cheney Pickles, Live Oak, Fla., Rhonda (Richard) Carroll, Live Oak, Fla., Elaine Corbett Gill, Live Oak, Fla.; one son: Ronald E. Corbett, Live Oak, Fla.; two sisters: Weta (Raymond) Wilson, Live Oak, Fla., Wanda (Richard) White, Live Oak, Fla.; three brothers: Jerry (Pauline) Corbett, Live Oak, Fla., Norman I. Corbett, Live Oak, Fla., Bobby I. (Cheryl) Corbett, Live Oak, Fla.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Edgar Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

 

Stanley Carlton Nichols

Stanley Carlton Nichols, 82 of Live Oak, Fla. passed away on Aug. 26, 2012.

Born in Binghamton, NY on Nov. 22, 1929, he served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as well as serving on the Mount Dora Police Dept., Mount Dora Fire Dept., and Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Originally from Mt. Dora, he relocated to Live Oak, Fla. 7 years ago.

Stanley was a member of Amvets Post 1992 of Mt. Dora; American Legion Post 107 of McAlpine and VFW Post 6954 of Middletown, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Lou Nichols; daughter, Pennie (Danny) Smith of Leesburg, Fla.; sons, Jerry (Sandy) Nichols of Live Oak, Fla. and Rob (Heather) Nichols of Lake City, Tn; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 from 9-11 a.m. at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at 2 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla..

Memorial contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 US Hwy 90 W, Lake City, Fla. 32055.

Shelton H. ‘Tommy’ Polk, Jr.

Shelton H. ‘Tommy’ Polk, Jr., 64, of Mayo, Fla. passed away on Sat., Aug. 25, 2012.  Tommy was born in Dade County, Fla. in 1948 to Shelton and Grace Polk.  Tommy retired from the Dade County School District where he worked as a painter for many years.  He also worked for over 6 years with the Department of Corrections.  Mr. Polk loved to spend time hunting and fishing.Tommy is survived by his wife:  Pat Polk; son: Leroy & Farrah Owens; granddaughter:  Alyssa Owens; sisters-in-law: Marlene Cold and Carol Watson; brother-in-law: Jimmy Watson; sister: Connie Barron; special friends: Barbara & Manny Lopez and Susan Callahan; and many other family and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Polk will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Daniels Memorial Chapel, Live Oak, FL with Rev. Randy Waters officiating.

Rachel Touchton Crosby Wynne

Rachel Touchton Crosby Wynne, age 91 of Live Oak, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 27, 2012 at the Palm Terrace Nursing Home in St. Petersburg, Fla. following a lengthy illness.  The Brooks County, Ga. native moved to Live Oak, Fla. in 1957 from St. Petersburg.  She had moved back to St. Pete to be closer to her son when her health began to fail.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ. We honor the example she set. We will miss her greatly.

She was predeceased by a son Ronald Crosby.

She is survived by one son, Bill Crosby, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Jo Humphries, Live Oak; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 12 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the church.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 in the Live Oak Church of Christ with Pastor John Arnold officiating. Internment will follow in the Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery.

Vivienne Cundiff Roberts

Vivienne Cundiff Roberts, age 88 formally of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Wed., Aug. 29, 2012 at the Sylvia’s House Hospice Center in Ocala, Fla.  The Quincy, FL native lived most of her life in Live Oak before moving to Ocala, Fla. in 1997.  She worked for many years as an accountant for Waste Management.  Vivienne was a member of the Daughter’s of American Revolution and the Fort King Presbyterian Church in Ocala. 

 She is survived by one son, Rick Roberts, Ocala, Fla.

 A celebration of remembrance will be held at a later date in Ocala, Fla.

Col. Rudy Wilson

Col. Rudy Wilson, 86, passed on to be with our Lord on Mon. evening, Aug. 28, 2012. He was at home with his wife and family. Col. Wilson was born Nov. 20, 1925 in Wharton, Texas and moved to the Live Oak area in 1974, after retiring from the U.S.A.F. He served two years in the Navy during WWII, attended and graduated from Texas A & I University and then served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife, Jane, owned and operated T.V. & Appliance Rental here in Live Oak from 1982-1995. He was married to Jane Mitchell Wilson for 50 wonderful years. He is survived by 4 grown children: Rudolph Wilson, Jr. (Sue) of Los Alamos, N.M., Kathy Grant (Fred) of Waddell, AZ, Andrea Cannington (Jim) of Live Oak, and Patrick Wilson (Donna) of Pavo, GA. Eight grandchildren: Jessie Grant Diebert, Danny Savin, Joshua Wilson, Amber Wilson, Brittany Warder, Sarah Brakenwagen, Brittany Cannington, and Dalton Cannington. A brother, Weldon Wilson (Frier, TX) and a sister, Freda Burger McCarty (Van Vleck, TX). He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wilson, his mother, Josie Culpepper Wilson Burger, and step-dad Ed Burger of Wharton, TX and a brother, Art Wilson (Bryan, TX). The services will be held at 11: a.m. Friday, Aug. 31at Community Presbyterian Church, located at 830 Pinewood Dr. in Live Oak, Fla.
