According to FHP at the scene, witnesses say the driver of a car was traveling eastbound on 216th Street in a four-door sedan around 2:13 p.m. and slowed at the stop sign but continued through into the intersection. A semi truck with trailer was traveling southbound on SR 49 and impacted the car on the drivers’ side. The sedan came to rest facing north in a vacant parking lot on the east side of the road. The semi truck with trailer came to a final rest in the ditch, facing south on the east side of the road.

The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the wreck. The driver of the semi did not sustain any injuries.
