It is nice to know others also have problems accessing our post office. The handicapped access is dark unwelcome and frustrating to try and use. When I have to go to the post office, I now drive to Lake City to
use their easy access post office. The drivers license facility while not so many steps up, does not have an easy handicapped access either. It is a shame the town cannot partner with the post office to provide easy access for it's citizens. It was a wonderful idea when, because of flood damage, voting had to be moved to the old rail station. Great access and ease of use. It made early voting so easy.

I would like to commend Commissioner Oxendine for standing by his Republican Principles. Giving billionaires land and tax breaks. Making less government by combining 2 jobs into one; Mr. Harris. Then raising his salary $30,000 to take him from $90,000 to $120,000 the entire time ignoring the working middle class employed by Suwannee County. A county whose family mean income is not $30,000. Perhaps we can arm the road department next commission meeting and lower womens pay.
****
Thanks to the Democrat for letting the public know how commissioner Phil Oxendine tried to sneak the 30K raise for Cty. Administrator Randy Harris on the agenda. Mr. Harris signed a 2 year contract for 90K and is doing the job he signed on to do. The Klausner project is sucking our reserves very fast, don't be surprised next year when our taxes go up. I urge anyone who can to attend the Commission meetings to see what is happening with YOUR tax money.

People around here have no money they say but yet they have all kinds of metal junk and cars that don't run in their yard. Take your junk to the recycle center and then you will have some cash.

Dear Suwannee Democrat, in your article “Not now, Randy” you stated, “Most everyone can agree that Harris has done an exceptional job and his work ethics are to be praised.” I don’t think the facts support “an exceptional job.” He is average at best. I do agree with your bottom line statement: “...he is not doing anything other than what he was hired, and agreed, to do.” It was his proposal to do both jobs and he got a raise to do that. Nobody ever said his salary would be evaluated in the future. What was to be evaluated was could he do both jobs effectively. If he doesn’t like doing both jobs then drop back to being Administrator only and go back to the $80,000 salary.

This is a RAVE for County Clerk Barry Baker! He is trying his darnedest to keep our county officials honest and our budget in the black. But some members of the County Commission seem to want to give away every dime we have and without executed contracts or building permits. Come on fellas, listen to Barry!
****
Hey Mr. Oxendine. It makes no sense to give more money to the highest paid employee and not do anything for the everyday hard working county employees. If you are feeling generous with everybody’s money then give an across the board raise to employees who haven’t had a raise lately. They actually live here and spend their money locally.
****
Maybe I missed something in the discussion of Mr. Harris’ job responsibilities and pay. he said he could do two jobs and he was given a $10,000 raise to take on the added load. That is a lot of money! Nothing has changed since the deal was struck not too long ago. Is he threatening to leave Suwannee County if we don’t pay him more? Head east on US 90, turn south on I-75 and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Congratulations to Wendell Snowden, Citizen of the Year. I could not have thought of a more perfect choice. Mr. Snowden is a wonderful asset to our community and has worked hard to make Suwannee County a better place to live. Thank you for your service Mr. Snowden. We are very grateful!

Can't help but wonder if the 1.6 million estimated cost of site prep for the Klausner sawmill is an open
endened contract. If not, how high can it go? Why can't a signed contract be made public? That thing
about getting on the Governor's
schedule is wearing a bit thin.

Randy harris should not get paid 30,000 a year much less the 90,000 he already is paid.

To the person that wants a ramp at the post office they have a place in back for you to go in at. Also the postal service is not making a profit in fact they are billions of dollars in the hole so a ramp for you is not a concern to them.
****
Randy Harris wants power and money! He wants to control this county with his handy side man Wainwright. I dont see where he has done anything so great!
Giving him a contract and binding him to the county? and on top a 30,000 dollar raise?? Hey commissioners, I have a bridge I want to sell you!

Last Friday's Suwannee Democrat just tells us we don't have to look far to see what is wrong with government. One County Commissioner (Oxendine) wants to rush through a $30,000 raise for an individual, the Klausner fiasco is now going to require more money (what a shock) and City firemen are worried about getting even more benefits. I hope the 96 hours of paid time off at the City was a misprint. At my business it is Use-It-or-Lose-It. The City should do the same. This is the taxpayer's money!
****
Really, the county paved 180th street ! You the county road department should have looked at 184th St. The condition of 184th is deplorable. It is constantly used as a short cut from CR 137 to CR 242. I guess it all boils down to who you know, not what is in the best interest of the taxpayers. Shame on you. Hope you can sleep at night, We sat out here for 5 months after the flood , and you still can't get it right.
****
Well once again it looks like certain parts of Suwannee County a swirling in the drain of life! Somebody jiggle the handle and flush some of those crooked, spineless members of office outta there! We would all be better off!
****
It is ridiculous that the school board and superintendent would even consider the idea of reconfiguration during these tough economic times. Taxpayers dollars should not be thrown away to change the present schools just as a power ploy...and that is exactly what it is.
****
the citizen of suwannee county need to band to gather for our community and put people in office that going to make a change.
****
How many more children have to be maimed or killed on ATVs and dirt bikes before parents are held accountable and prosecuted for endangerment?
****
Warning to commissioners who proposed a 33 1/3 percent ($30,000) raise to the county administrator when social security and military retirees received 1.7 percent (a grand total of $29 a month in my case). We will remember such shenanigans next election.
****
Going “wet” did not bring prosperity. Neither will a sawmill for the simple fact that not enough large timber exists in the area to sustain it. They only money made is by the land sellers and construction contractors. Remember the “Suwannee Landing” fiasco.
