Live Oak —
An early Monday morning crash on US 90 West near I-10 claimed the life of a Live Oak man and injured three others, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
John Charles Fuhrmann, 54, was killed in the crash that involved three vehicles and closed part of the roadway for a few hours.
According to FHP, at approximately 7:05 a.m., Fuhrmann was driving east on US 90 in a 1996 Ford Escort approaching the intersection of 159th Road. Shayla Renee Weaver, 19, Live Oak was stopped on US 90 East in a 2004 Nissan Maxima, waiting to turn left onto 159th Road.
Fuhrmann reportedly struck the left rear side of the Maxima causing his vehicle to rotate clockwise into the westbound lane and into the direct patch of a 1997 Grand Marquis, driven by Gregory Thomas Jones, 25, Live Oak. The front of Jones’ vehicle collided with the Escort’s left rear side.
Fuhrmann was pronounced dead at Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center.
The FHP reported that it is unknown if Fuhrmann was wearing a seatbelt.
