The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman who was reported missing on Wednesday, according to Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron.
Kamrie Cherai Mitchell’s white four-door 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was found submerged in water on 184th Street near the Columbia County line, Cameron said.
According to Cameron, her car had been parked on the road since late August, but had been pushed into the water recently. After SCSO contacted the family that the vehicle would be towed, the family reported her missing he said. Cameron said that Mitchell, 24, had been known by family to disappear from time to time if she was upset, but the family became alarmed when SCSO called about her car. The family had last seen Mitchell on Aug. 25.
“We are concerned that there could be foul play involved because she hasn’t made contact with her family,” Cameron said.
On Wednesday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission assisted SCSO with an aerial search of the area. Cameron said that they did not find anything in the search. The SCSO Mounted Posse was out searching the area by horse and ATV yesterday and the search continued today.
Cameron said Mitchell is 5 feet 3 inches and 130 pounds. She has dyed brown hair and blues eyes. Mitchell has “Kamrie” tattooed on her left foot, “Grams” and a butterfly on her wrist and “Layla” with a footprint and a birthdate on her right side.
Please report any information regarding Mitchell to SCSO at 386-362-2222 and refer to case number 12-37472.
