Update: Name released of pedestrian that was killed on Ohio Ave. North Saturday

Live Oak — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck Saturday afternoon after walking into traffic on Ohio Avenue North (US 129), according to Live Oak Police Det. Justin Bates.

The pedestrian who was killed was identified as 26-year-old Angel Carrillo of Live Oak.

Around 12 p.m., Carrillo stepped off the curb at the southbound lanes of Ohio Avenue and Andra Davis Lane, walking east. Bates said witnesses reported he had his head down and made it to the northbound lanes when he was struck by the pickup.

Bates said Carrillo was life flighted to Shands in Gainesville where he succumbed to his injuries at 2 p.m.

Bates said officials noticed the smell of alcohol on Carrillo.

He said there is no fault to the driver.

Bates said that they believe Carrillo has family in the area and they are hoping to make contact with them for more information.
